Parents faking divorce to get their kids into school
April 13th, 2008 at 12:00 pm by Clive Bellmore in DivorceParents in Seville, Spain, are believed to be faking their divorce in order to get their children into better schools, according to the BBC.
Children receive extra ‘points’, which are used to determine what schools they can enter, if they come from a single parent family. With a drastically increasing divorce rate in the city, family court judges believe that parents are either faking their divorce, or getting divorced deliberately in order to get their children into schools of their choice.
An education department spokesperson said:
Please Look:There are some cases of this actually occurring, but they are very few and where there are cases reported to us we investigate and if found to be true the child is not allowed into the school.
Most parents who commit this type of fraud do it by providing false information about their home address or income, not by divorcing.
